India is gearing up for a large-scale global diplomatic initiative aimed at exposing Pakistan's alleged role as a hub of international terrorism. In the wake of Operation Sindoor and the recent terror strike in Pahalgam, the government is sending seven multi-party delegations to various countries across the world.
The campaign kicks off today with the first team led by JD(U)'s Sanjay Kumar Jha heading to Japan. The delegation will visit five critical East and Southeast Asian nations over the next 10 days: Japan (May 22), South Korea (May 24), Singapore (May 27), Indonesia (May 28), and Malaysia (May 31).
Alongside Jha, the delegation includes BJP leaders Aparajita Sarangi and Brij Lal, TMC's Abhishek Banerjee and John Barla, and Congress's Salman Khurshid.
Their objective is to present evidence of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and to communicate the reasons behind India’s military operation. The effort aims to strengthen global understanding of India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism.
Targeting The UNSC, But Skipping China And Pakistan
The broader plan involves sending delegations to all 15 United Nations Security Council (UNSC) member states, including the US, UK, France, and Russia. However, no delegations will be sent to Pakistan or China, in a clear signal of India's diplomatic posture.
Other delegations are headed to regions across Africa and Europe. Shrikant Shinde’s team will travel to the UAE, Congo, Sierra Leone, and Liberia, while Kanimozhi (DMK) will lead a mission to Russia, Slovenia, Greece, Latvia, and Spain starting Thursday.
Message Of Zero Tolerance On Global Stage
India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri briefed the delegations before departure, aligning their communication strategy. The delegations are tasked not just with conveying India’s counter-terrorism stance, but also with advocating global cooperation in combating extremism.
By assembling cross-party teams, India seeks to signal to the world that the fight against terrorism transcends political divisions and requires unified international resolve.
