Nitin Upadhyay, the Council’s joint CEO, was also in attendance. Important conversations on Uttarakhand’s film policy, the variety of its locations, and the state government’s assistance were discussed at the meeting.

Under the direction of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand’s current film policy is regarded as one of the most progressive in the nation, providing filmmakers with prompt shooting permits, administrative assistance, and easy access to local resources. According to Tiwari, the state is a great place to create movies because of the sort of welcoming and pleasant atmosphere the film units are receiving.

In reference to Border 2, JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, and T-Series are producing the movie. In February, filming began in Dehradun. Anurag Singh, who directed Kesari before, is its director. Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty are among the film’s many well-known actors.

A large set of a Kashmiri hamlet has been constructed in the Halduwala neighborhood of Dehradun for the movie, which is based on the Indo-Pak War of 1971, according to producer Binoy Gandhi. Last November, the set’s construction got underway. The movie has battle sequences with army and tank movements, and its visual presentation is crucial in terms of visual effects. Mayur Sharma serves as the film’s art director, while Ravi Verma, who has received praise for his work on movies like Jat, is in charge of action directing.

About 350 locals are employed every day as a result of this operation. In addition to Border 2, Uttarakhand is now the site of other big film productions.

Filming on Ginny Weds Sunny 2, directed by Vinod Bachchan, who produced Tanu Weds Manu, is now underway in Dehradun. The film stars Avinash Tiwari and actress Medha Shankar, who starred in 12th Fail. In addition to them, the film features seasoned performers Govind Namdev and Sudhir Pandey. The comedy-satire “Uttar Da Puttar,” which stars Annu Kapoor, Pawan Malhotra, and Bijendra Kala, is currently being filmed in Dehradun and Rishikesh.

Currently, three Garhwali-language films—Marcha, Teri Maya, and Namak—are being filmed in Dehradun, Tehri, and Uttarkashi, respectively, in an effort to promote Uttarakhandi filmmaking. These films are receiving full technical backing together with local folk culture, custom, and dialect thanks to the state government’s effort, which is providing regional cinema a new identity and direction.

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand has just finished filming a number of well-known Hindi movies and television shows, such as “Vicky Vidya Ka Wo Wala Video,” “Tikadam,” “Do Patti,” “Putul,” “Rautu Ka Raaj,” “Tanvi the Great,” “Past Tense,” “Kesari 2,” and “Mere Husband Ki Biwi.” In 2024, the Uttarakhand government has granted 225 shooting permits so far.

The Uttarakhand Film Development Council is working to make the state a desirable location for filmmaking, where filmmakers may have a unique experience thanks to the combination of culture, nature, technology, and administrative assistance.
