Washington: According to CNN, which cited several US officials on Tuesday (local time), the United States has obtained fresh intelligence indicating that Israel is actively preparing for a possible military attack against Iranian nuclear facilities, even as President Donald Trump‘s administration continues its diplomatic efforts with Tehran.

The possibility of an attack has significantly grown in recent months, according to CNN, which cited sources familiar with the information, even though Israel does not seem to have made a final decision.
They pointed out that the fate of continuing US-Iranian talks over Tehran’s nuclear aspirations would primarily determine if Israel takes any further action.
“The chance of an Israeli strike on an Iranian nuclear facility has gone up significantly,” according to a CNN source, especially if Washington’s agreement does not completely stop Iran’s uranium enrichment.
According to CNN, the United States’ judgment is based on both intercepted Israeli conversations and apparent military operations, such as the repositioning of aerial weapons and the conclusion of a significant Israeli air exercise.
Officials cautioned that rather than indicating impending military action, these actions may be a component of a larger Israeli attempt to exert diplomatic pressure on Iran.
Any such assault would represent a significant departure from Trump’s present diplomatic approach and run the danger of sparking more hostilities across the already unstable Middle East, according to CNN. The United States has attempted to prevent such escalation from the start of the conflict in Gaza in 2023.
Although he has openly pledged to pursue diplomacy in the near future, President Trump has warned of military force if negotiations with Iran are unsuccessful.
CNN reports that in March, Trump wrote to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, stating that Tehran had sixty days to come to an agreement. The conversations started more than five weeks ago, and that deadline has now passed.
In a recent discussion, Trump said he would wait just a few more weeks for the talks to be successful before examining military options, a senior Western diplomat told CNN.
Meanwhile, Israel is making tough decisions. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly under pressure to thwart a weak US-Iranian agreement without jeopardizing the nation’s strategic partnership with Washington, according to CNN.
