
Happy Birthday Mohanlal:Mohanlal Viswanathan, popularly known asMohanlal, is an Indian actor who has been working predominantly in the Malayalam film industry for the last four decades. The veteran actor has left his mark on Indian cinema for his versatility, incredible approach towards cinema, and an array of groundbreaking works. Besides acting in numerous Malayali movies, Mohanlal has acted in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada movies. In 1978, Mohanlal stepped into the film industry with the film Thiranottam. The film was produced by him along with his friends. In 1980, Mohanlal got his big break with the film Manjil Virinja Pookkal, which attained huge success, and by the year 1983, he was credited with more than 25 feature films. The Malayali superstar is widely considered the ‘God of acting’ because of his remarkable acting, versatility, and numerous accolades. He has demonstrated an excellent ability to portray a wide range of characters, from playing the villain to the hero, from comic characters to action-packed ones—Mohanlal has done it all. In 2001, he was conferred with the Padma Shri award by the Government of India for his extraordinary work in the film industry. Later, in 2019, he also received the Padma Bhushan award. Additionally, Mohanlal has become the first Indian actor to receive the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel in the Territorial Army. Throughout his career, Mohanlal has been cast in nearly 400 films so far. Some of these films have left a mark on the audience. He has received five national awards, including two Best Actor awards for his performances in Bharatham and Vanaprastham, in 1991 and 2000, respectively. He was also awarded the National Award for Special Jury Award (Actor) for his performance in Kireedam in 1989 and won the National Award for Special Mention (feature film) in the same year. Moreover, he received the Best Feature Film Award as a producer for Vanaprastham in 1999. The actor was recently seen in Thudarum, which was a massive success. Mohanlal has a packed lineup of films ahead, including Mukesh Kumar Singh’s Telugu fantasy drama Kannappa, Sathyam Anthikad’s Hridayapoorvam, Nanda Kishore’s Vrushabha, the Malayalam film AJFC_MMMN directed by Mahesh Narayanan, and the action-thriller film Ram.
