
Vijayapura: In a tragic road accident, six people, including four members of a single family, lost their lives when a Mahindra Scorpio car collided head-on with a private bus at Managuli town in Basavanabagewadi taluk of Vijayapura district on Wednesday morning, May 21.
According to police, the deceased include the driver of the Scorpio, four occupants of the car, and the bus driver. the SUV jumped the divider and hit the oncoming bus.
The deceased family members have been identified as T. Bhaskaran Malakanthan, Canara Bank manager, his wife Pavithra, son Abhiram, and daughter Jyothsna. Another son, Praveen Tej, sustained injuries in the accident. All of them hail from Telangana, said Laxman Nimbargi, the Vijayapura Superintendent of Police.
The Scorpio driver, identified as Vikas Makani from Horti village, and the bus driver, Basavaraj Rathod of Kalaghatagi village, also died in the accident.
According to reports, the car was travelling towards Solapur, while the private bus was on its way from Mumbai to Ballari.
Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi, along with senior police officers and staff, visited the accident site and conducted an inspection.
