The plot of Laawaris revolved around an orphan named Heera who was a child born out of wedlock and raised by an alcoholic. When the child comes face to face with his identity a shockwave runs down his spine. Soon he leaves to find out who his real parents were. According to IMDb reports director Prakash Mehra made this film based on himself. It is said that despite having a father he always saw himself as an orphan.
