But there is no need to panic. Experts believe that some easy and natural exercises of daily can improve the length of children, that too without any medicine or treatment.
Lowering height is not only on genetics, but also depends on today’s food and lifestyle. If your child is not active or does not have a habit of playing outside, then his effect can be seen clearly on his growth. But the good news is that it can be controlled by some easy exercises, they too sit at home.
How does the height of children grow with exercise?
Experts believe that children’s bones and muscles develop fastest in childhood and teenage. During this time, if they are given the right exercise, then the secretion of growth hormone is better, which leads to natural increase in height. There are some basic but effective exercises.
- Hanging: Hanging from the bar for 5–10 minutes daily makes the spine straight and the length increases.
- Surya Namaskar: This makes the body flexible and helps in growth.
- Skipping: Jumping rope keeps the body active and promotes height.
- Bhujangasana and Tadasana: These Yogasanas strengthen the spine and cause stretch, which increases the length.
- Stretching Exercise: Waking up in the morning or in the evening light stretching also shows a good effect.
Diet and sleep also affect the height
Just exercise will not work. If the child is not taking the right diet or not taking full sleep, then his growth will be affected. According to doctors, children should get a diet rich in protein, calcium, vitamin D and zinc. Milk, egg, green vegetables, fruits and dry fruits join their daily diet. Also, deep sleep of 7–8 hours is extremely important because growth hormone is produced more at bedtime. The habit of watching mobile or TV till late night can prevent children’s growth.
What to do parents?
Do not put pressure on children, rather encourage them towards sports and exercise. Exercising at a fixed time daily, giving them healthy diet and ensuring plenty of sleep, these are the three things that play a big role in their physical development. If the child’s height is much less than the age, then consult a pediatrician once. Sometimes it can also be a problem to hormone or nutrition which can be identified and improved on the initial stage.
