Attending the conference were senior representatives from the Golaghat, Karbi Anglong, and Nagaon District Administrations; the Assam Police Department; the Forest Department; the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA); the District Transport Authorities; and other important government departments.

The conference was attended by around 80 people, including representatives from local organizations such as the Jeep Safari Association and Hotel Owners’ Association, as well as members of the media.

Reviewing the landscape’s flood preparation situation was the main goal of the conference, which also emphasized the need for all stakeholders to work together.

It was emphasized how crucial prompt action is to guaranteeing the security and welfare of animals during floods. In order to properly manage the flood situation, cooperation and active participation from all agencies and community members were requested.

All attendees were asked to share their thoughts and comments during the open conversation. A range of stakeholders expressed their insights and suggestions based on previous floods.

The focus was on strengthening inter-agency collaboration, controlling vehicle traffic during floods, and boosting animal rescue operations.

The efficient coordination and timely reaction by many agencies during the previous flood season, which led to a notable decrease in animal death and enhanced rescue operations, were universally recognized and praised by all participants.

Another important element in lowering animal mortality was the collaboration of local communities, Jeep Safari operators, resort/homestay associations, and local media in enabling the efficient flow of rescue workers and offering temporary housing to evacuee animals and support staff.

It was also praised that National Highway traffic was successfully controlled to let animal migration occur safely during floods.
