IMD: Heavy rain reported in many states

New Delhi: From 8:30 AM IST on Thursday to 5:30 AM IST on Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded significant rainfall in several states. According to the statistics, areas such as Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Konkan & Goa, Gangetic West Bengal, and portions of Northeast India have seen significant rainfall.

Haldia (Purba Medinipur) in Gangetic West Bengal had 10 cm of rain, while Diamond Harbour (South 24 Parganas) received 9 cm. Digha (North 24 Parganas) saw 2 cm, while Kolkata’s Dum Dum and Alipur stations (North 24 Parganas and Kolkata) both reported 4 cm.

Rainfall was also recorded in Konkan and Goa, with Mumbai (Santacruz) and Ratnagiri (Ratnagiri) both receiving 3 cm and Panjim (North Goa) recording 9 cm.

In coastal Andhra Pradesh, Machilipatnam and Visakhapatnam (Krishna and Visakhapatnam) each saw 5 cm, while Amaravati (Guntur) reported 9 cm. Vijayawada-Gannavaram and Bapatla (Krishna and Bapatla) each got 2 cm, while Nellore (Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore) recorded 4 cm.

Odisha recorded 2 cm in Paradip Port (Jagatsinghapur) and 3 cm in Jharsuguda. Mangalore (Bajpe, Dakshina Kannada) in coastal Karnataka recorded 3 cm, while Kalaburagi (Kalaburagi) in North Interior Karnataka and Gorakhpur (Gorakhpur) in East Uttar Pradesh both recorded 2 cm.

Itanagar (Papum Pare) in Arunachal Pradesh and Chandigarh in Haryana both reported 2 cm. Rainfall was recorded at Cannanore (Kannur) in Kerala and Mahe; however, the summary lacked particular numbers.

Kailashahar (Unakoti) reported 8 cm, while Agartala (West Tripura) saw 2 cm in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Meghalaya and Assam recorded 2 cm in Shillong (East Khasi Hills), 3 cm in Cherrapunji (East Khasi Hills), and 7 cm in Dhubri (Dhubri).

5 cm was reported at Sri Vijaya Puram (South Andaman) in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Hyderabad and Ramgundam (Hyderabad and Peddapalli) in Telangana both saw 4 cm, while Marathawada, Aurangabad (Chikalthana, Aurangabad) saw 4 cm.

Vidarbha’s Nagpur (Sonegaon Airport, Nagpur) and Madhya Maharashtra’s Solapur (Solapur) reported 4 and 3 cm, respectively.

Over the next three days, the IMD has predicted that portions of the west coast, particularly Konkan & Goa, Karnataka, and Kerala, would continue to have heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.
