Chief Minister's Directive for Remote Area Assessment

Bhubaneswar: On Wednesday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi instructed department heads to visit remote regions across 14 districts in Odisha where the PM Janman Yojana is being executed. This directive was issued during a review meeting focused on the scheme's implementation at Lok Seva Bhawan. Majhi emphasized the importance of assessing conditions in every remote area involved in the initiative.

The scheme encompasses 55 blocks, 1,751 villages and public settlements, 289 village panchayats, and two municipal areas within the 14 districts. It aims to benefit approximately 314,514 individuals from 68,605 families. By the end of 2026, the government plans to construct 45,408 homes, develop around 210 kilometers of roads, provide tap water to 1,646 villages, establish mobile connectivity in 351 locations, create student hostels in 405 areas, and set up 74 multipurpose centers.

Majhi urged officials to ensure all tasks are completed within the designated timeframe. The meeting also highlighted that mobile medical units have been successfully deployed in all 1,055 habitations, achieving full coverage.

The Chief Minister expressed his approval of this progress and instructed secretaries to expedite water and electricity supply, as well as mobile connectivity, particularly for tribal communities in PVTG areas. He also called for the Chief Secretary and other secretaries to visit unconnected or remote locations to provide guidance on timely project completion. Key officials, including Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and Development Commissioner Anu Garg, participated in the meeting.
