Young Vaibhav Suryavanshi is undoubtedly one for the future of Indian cricket, according to former cricketer Abhinav Mukund, who praised the young player for a mature innings under duress in the Rajasthan Royals’ victory against the Chennai Super Kings.
At the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, RR defeated CSK by a commanding six wickets to round up their IPL 2025 campaign. Following their decision to bowl first, RR’s bowlers put on a disciplined display, limiting Chennai to 187/8. In response, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s quick 36 from 19 balls gave RR a strong start. Suryavanshi and skipper Sanju Samson maintained the pace with a fluid 98-run partnership off only 59 deliveries, despite his fall in the fourth over.
Suryavanshi finished with a magnificent 57 off 33 balls, including a soaring six in the 12th over to get his first IPL fifty. He hit four sixes and as many fours throughout his innings.
Since he didn’t get many balls on the power play, it was an example of maturity. He demonstrated today that even though he only had three or four balls during the power play, he was still able to speed after that. There had been some concerns about his gameplay against spin. It was an amazing innings, in my opinion, to bat at that strike rate later and face Noor and Jadeja.
And the ball remains hit each time he strikes it. This youngster, who is just 14 years old, can hit 80- to 90-meter sixes, so they aren’t little ones. Mukund said on JioHotstar, “I think this guy is definitely one for the future of Indian cricket.”
Varun Aaron, a former cricket player for India, emphasized Madhwal’s contribution and questioned why RR hadn’t employed him sooner this season. “I thought he really used the conditions well, pulled some good yorkers with that round-arm action of his,” Aaron said. He tails in at the finish, but just a bit. Brevis gained the inner edge since he missed it. Without hesitation, he followed through on his ideas and performed well, which is how you succeed in the IPL.
It simply surprises me that Akash Madhwal wasn’t the starting player this season. Last year, he had a really good season. His death bowling abilities are excellent.
Their death bowling was the main cause for anxiety. He would have been a great combination with Sandeep Sharma. He’s producing results now, and I’m not sure why they only utilized him after the seventh or eighth game,” he said.
The victory on Tuesday night demonstrated the RR’s depth all around and was their eighth in their past ten encounters with CSK. Aaron went on to commend RR for their calm game-ending versus CSK.
“They performed really well. Since RR’s middle order has been struggling a lot this tournament, I was a little concerned when Ashwin took the double-wicket over. This time, it didn’t break.
