Keeping your clean is so important if you want your home to smell nice. But it doesn't take much for it to start smelling - one piece of bad food and suddenly your whole kitchen is full of an unpleasant aroma whenever you open the fridge.
Even when you get rid of any rotting food, these smells can still persist. Even the fridge itself doesn't always smell great, and these plastic-type aromas can leach into your and veg. However, there's a very easy way to banish these forever, and all you need is two very common ingredients.
The simple trick was shared on TikTok by Chantel Mila, also known as , an Australian mum and influencer with more than 1.3 million followers. Her home organisational tips are easy to follow, so it's no surprise she's built up such a loyal fanbase.
In one of her recent videos, she explained how to rid your fridge of any bad smells with one easy tip that 'deep-cleans' your whole appliance, leaving it smelling and looking like new again.
Even better, you only need two simple ingredients - white vinegar and vanilla extract.
Explaining how to carry out the hack, Chantel first emptied out her entire fridge to really get into all the nooks and crannies. Then she took a dishwashing brush and poured in equal parts water and white vinegar, before adding one tablespoon of vanilla extract.
But before you start scrubbing away, it's best to give the fridge shelves a quick wipe or vaccuum first, in order to pick up any lingering food crumbs or dust.
Then, take the brush and start using it to lather up the inside of the fridge.
Chantel explained: "This powerful mix cuts through tough mess and spills." Given that the fridge is a magnet for these kinds of mishaps, it could be well worth giving this cleaning hack a try.
Once the shelves are looking cleaner, take a dry cloth and wipe away any residue. Not only does it help to get rid of mess, it also makes your fridge 'smell amazing' thanks to the vanilla.
