Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Akash Maharaj Singh beat Gujarat Titan's Jos Buttler's defence to shatter his stumps at Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday. After dismissing the English batter in the 236-run chase, Singh came up with a notebook celebration which was inspired by his suspended teammate Digvesh Singh Rathi.
The incident took place during the 10th over of GT’s innings when Singh stunned Buttler with a brillaint slower ball on the third ball of the over.
The former England captain was sent back to the pavilion after scoring 33 runs off 18 balls, including three fours and two sixes.
Uncapped mystery spinner Rathi has made a name for himself with his notebook celebration despite the IPL governing council penalising him on multiple occasions.
In LSG's previous match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rathi was involved in a heated verbal battle with Abhishek Sharma post his signature celebration. He was handed a one-match suspension after the incident. However, in his absence, his teammate Akash did the notebook celebration.
Akash Singh came in as an impact sub for LSG. He opened the bowling attack for the Rishabh Pant-led side after their batters helped them post a big total of 235 runs on the board.
He bowled 3.1 overs against Gujarat Titans and finished with figures of 1 for 29 runs.
