Gujarat Titans pacer Arshad Khan endured a rough start in the IPL 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants in Ahmedabad. The left-arm pacer slipped badly on the very first ball of his spell, appearing to be in considerable pain as the physios rushed in to assist him.

He lost his footing again on the fourth delivery, prompting the groundsmen to bring in sawdust to address the slippery surface. Commentators pointed out that the heavily grassed crease area was the reason behind the falls. After completing the over, Arshad was taken off the field, with visible bruises on his hand.

Gujarat Titans skipper won the toss and elected to field first against Lucknow Super Giants at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Although the playoff race is settled, the match still holds plenty of importance for Gujarat, who are currently leading the points table. The final seven games will determine the final order of the top four RCB, PBKS, MI, and GT. A win over Lucknow would significantly boost Gujarat’s chances of finishing in the top two, giving them the crucial advantage of having two opportunities to make it to the final.

After winning the toss, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill announced that the team is going in with an unchanged playing XI and said, “We’ll bowl first, looks like a good wicket. Will be good to have a target on the board. We want momentum heading into the qualifiers, these two games are going to be equally important. The way we compliment each other is great, we don’t have conversations on who will take down the bowlers. No changes.”

Gujarat Titans (Playing XI): Shubman Gill (C), JOS Buttler (W), Sherfane Rutherford, Shahrukh Khan, Ramul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Arshad Khan, Arshad Khan, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Kagiso Rabada, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna
