New Delhi, New Delhi: Bangladesh batsman Soumya Sarkar has been ruled out of the T20 series against Pakistan in June due to a bench injury. According to ESPNcricinfo, Mehdi Hasan Miraj, who is playing for Lahore Kalandars in the PSL 2025 playoffs on Thursday, has been included in his place. Pakistan will host Bangladesh for the three-match T20 series starting on May 28. Bangladesh’s team will reach Lahore on 25 May three days before the first match.

Training sessions of tourists will be held on 26 and 27 May to ensure the best preparations for the series. Soumya stayed out of the three T20 matches series against the United Arab Emirates in Sharjah, the series Bangladesh lost 2–1, and the team’s physio Baijdul Islam Khan said they would take a few weeks to recover.

“After medical evaluation, it has been determined that an injury requires an extended rehabilitation period of about 10 to 12 days.” Bazedul Islam Khan said, “This effectively means that it will not be available for the three -match series in Pakistan next week.” Mehdi was not included in the T20 team selected by Bangladesh selectors for the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan.

However, Mehdi’s 2024-25 campaign has been successful. Apart from taking five wickets in the Test series against Zimbabwe and scoring a century, he was also adjudged 355 runs in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025 and Player of the Tournament for 13 wickets. Mehdi is in the Kalandars team with his countrymen Shakib Al Hasan and Rishad Hussain, and he will join the Bangladesh team in Lahore after PSL commitments.
