Bengaluru Royal Challengers vs. Hyderabad Sunrisers: Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who have already advanced to the playoffs, will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League on Friday in an attempt to finish in the top two league stages for the first time in nine years. Since the 2016 season, when they finished as runners-up, RCB has not been in the top two.
With 17 points from 12 games, they are now ranked second in the standings, although wins in their next two games might guarantee a top-two position. The Bengaluru team’s home game on Friday was rescheduled because of the arrival of the monsoon.
Before the Indian-Pakistan military war disrupted the league, RCB was in scorching form and had won four straight games.
However, a washout in their first game after the restart stopped the momentum. It would be intriguing to see whether they maintain their rhythm and competitive edge after a 20-day layoff.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, the finalists from the previous season, are keen to build on their six-wicket victory against the Lucknow Super Giants and end this forgettable season on a strong note.
Despite some brilliant moments during their season, especially from their explosive openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, SRH has struggled with consistency, finishing in ninth place.
Even though their bowling unit includes well-known players like India bowler Mohammad Shami and captain Pat Cummins, they have had trouble delivering as a team and maintaining control at crucial times.
