New Delhi: Another bad day for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The team suffered 10 defeats in a season for the second time in IPL history. This also happened earlier in 2022. Rajasthan Royals defeated them by six wickets in New Delhi. Now the teams next match will be against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on May 25. Captain MS Dhoni said before the match that Chennai is now preparing for the next season. They will focus on fixing the team combination and making auction strategy in the remaining matches. After the match former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra advised Chennai to remove Ravindra Jadeja from the team as it was not right to send him to bat in the top order. He also said that Chennai should release Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra. The team is already out of the playoff race. Now the teams focus is on the next season. Captain MS Dhoni said that the team is working on the right combination and auction strategy for the next season. Aakash Chopra has advised to make changes in the team. MS Dhoni had said at the time of toss- We have to find out which player will do well at which position next year. We need to work on our bowling. Once we were out of the tournament we wanted to find the answer for next year. He further said- We need to look at the combination and some players whom we can pick in the auction. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo Aakash Chopra said that Dewald Brevis can prove to be a better batsman at number 4. He also said that Chennai should release New Zealand batsmen Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra. Chopra believes that the team should look for a batsman who can score fast. He said- I think maybe he (Jadeja) should be traded. You have Dewald Brevis at number 4. Make him bat at number 4. It is a makeshift arrangement with Devon Conway and Ayush Mhatre and Urvil Patel. There is a mini auction in between if you are releasing Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway it is common sense that you will get someone who can be an absolute banker and destroyer at the top. Aakash Chopra further said- Why would you want Ruturaj Gaikwad to bat with someone who will not score fast? Keep Urvil Patel at 3 rather keep another player. Sam Curran at 3 and Jadeja at 4 will not make sense. Ravindra Jadeja has not been able to perform well this year. He has scored just 280 runs in 13 matches and taken only eight wickets. His average is 38.38. Jadejas performance has been disappointing this year. Both his batting and bowling have declined.
