Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, two IPL 2025 breakthrough stars, have been selected for India’s U19 team for the next trip of England in recognition of their respective teams’ valiant performances in the current season.

The trip, which will include a 50-over warm-up match, a five-match Youth One-Day series, and two Multi-Day matches versus England U19 from June 24 to July 23, will be captained by Mhatre. Abhigyan Kundu of Mumbai has been named Mhatre’s deputy.

At the age of 14, Suryavanshi made news when he became the IPL’s youngest centurion. In the previous year’s auction, the Rajasthan Royals paid Rs 1.1 crore to get him. The youngster has scored 252 runs, including a century and a half, in seven games.

However, Mhatra was signed on as a mid-season injury replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings. The 17-year-old Mumbai batsman has been outstanding in the yellow uniform, contributing right away to the Chennai batting lineup’s weakness. With the finest innings of 94 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the opening batsman has amassed 206 runs in six games.

Last year, the pair helped India place second in the U19 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

Other noteworthy picks were Mohammed Enaan, a leg-spinner from Kerala, and Vihaan Malhotra, a batsman from Punjab, who both made an impression in the 2024 youth series against Australia in Chennai and Puducherry.

Rahul Kumar, Abhigyan Kundu (Vice-Captain & WK), Harvansh Singh (WK), R S Ambrish, Kanishk Chouhan, Khilan Patel, Henil Patel, Yudhajit Guha, Pranav Raghavendra, Mohammed Enaan, Aditya Rana, Anmoljeet Singh, and Ayush Mhatre (captain) comprise the India U19 squad.

Standby Players: Alankrith Rapole (WK), Vedant Trivedi, Vikalp Tiwari, D Deepesh, and Naman Pushpak.
