Rahul Gandhi's Upcoming Visit to Poonch
Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi is set to visit Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, where he will meet families affected by recent Pakistani shelling and drone attacks.
Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh announced on social media platform 'X' that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha will be in Poonch on May 24 to offer condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent attacks.
Earlier, on April 25, he visited Srinagar, where he met with individuals injured in a brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam and engaged with other relevant parties. He also had discussions with the Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister.
During the military conflict between India and Pakistan from May 8 to 10, heavy shelling and drone strikes occurred in the Jammu region, including Poonch, resulting in 27 fatalities and 70 injuries.
Following the Pahalgam attack, Rahul Gandhi had traveled to Kashmir on April 25, where he checked on the well-being of some of the injured and discussed the incident with Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
He emphasized that the intent behind the Pahalgam attack was to create divisions among the citizens and incite brother against brother. He stressed the importance of unity in overcoming terrorism.
