Bus Incident in Pangi Valley
Earlier today, a bus journeying from Sural to Shimla narrowly escaped a serious accident. The vehicle, which had set off from Killar's main headquarters in Pangi, was just a kilometer from Rohili when it nearly fell into a steep gorge. The quick actions and alertness of the driver ensured the safety of 15 to 20 passengers on board.
Eyewitness Ramesh Kumar stated that the incident was triggered by a collapse of the road at the gorge's edge. As the bus's tires began to sink, it was on the brink of tumbling into the ravine. The driver acted promptly, evacuating all passengers before skillfully maneuvering the bus back to safety despite the challenging situation.
This event underscores a troubling reality—the poor state of our roads and the significant neglect of safety protocols. Such incidents are not rare; accidents frequently occur, sometimes resulting in fatalities and property damage. The ongoing lack of timely road maintenance is a pressing issue. Deteriorating road conditions, recurrent landslides, and the absence of preventive measures have rendered travel perilous in numerous areas.
Immediate action is essential to tackle infrastructure problems and enhance road safety to avert future disasters.
