On Friday, 23 May 2025 at Sawai Madhopur district headquarters of Rajasthan, a shocking incident shook the entire area when a freak young man strangled his former fiancé to death with a knife in broad daylight. The incident took place in Koli Mohalla in the old city, where the accused, named Iqbal, killed his former fiancé Shehnaz. After the murder, IQBAL reached the Kotwali police station and handed himself over to the police. The painful end of a love story

Shehnaz and Iqbal were engaged about a year ago. The relationship between the two was normal until Shehnaz’s family decided to break the engagement for some reasons. According to the police, Iqbal went into deep depression after the engagement broke. His mental state had become such that he was not ready to let Shehnaz be anyone else. He told the police, “I used to love Shehnaz. This perverted thinking made him so furious that he decided to kill Shehnaz.

The horrific incident of that day

On May 23, 2025, there was a stir in Koli Mohalla when Iqbal entered Shehnaz’s house in broad daylight and killed him. Shehnaz’s family was not present at home at that time. His mother was hospitalized, siblings went to Tonk for some work, and elder sister Nawaz was out for studies. Shehnaz alone in the house was strangled by Iqbal with a knife. After the murder, he took a blood stained knife and went to Shehnaz’s sister Zeba and said to him, “I killed your sister.” When Zeba reached home, Shehnaz was found in a bled condition on the bed, whose throat was chopped and the bed was soaked in blood.

Police action and investigation

As soon as the incident was reported, Sawai Madhopur Kotwali Police reached the spot and took the body and sent it for postmortem. The police took Iqbal into custody and started questioning him. During interrogation, Iqbal confessed his crime and told that he was trying to drive away Shehnaz, but when he did not listen, he took this dreadful step. The police is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter and trying to find out if there were any other reasons behind the murder.
