Mysuru: BJP MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has strongly criticised the Karnataka government’s decision to appoint actress Tamannaah Bhatia as the brand ambassador for the historic Mysore Sandal Soap company, calling it an “irresponsible move.”
Yaduveer, a descendant of the Wadiyar dynasty, pointed out that the company was originally established by Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar and holds deep cultural and historical significance for Karnataka.
He questioned the logic behind choosing Tamannaah, stating, “Tamannaah has no cultural or historical association with Karnataka. She is unaware of the fragrance of Kannada culture. Was it really necessary to appoint someone with no roots in the state as the face of our iconic sandalwood soap?”
He further argued that since most users of the company’s products are Kannadigas, the brand ambassador should ideally have been a Kannada actress. He demanded that the state government immediately revoke the appointment.
