
A 16-year-old boy died despite the efforts of - the venue has now issued a statement about the tragedy.
An air ambulance was deployed to the Barry Island Pleasure Park in Barry, the Vale of Glamorgan, in south Wales on Friday night, the start of the bank holiday weekend and for many. Following a massive emergency operation, which began at around 5.15pm, confirmed the teenager experienced a "medical episode" and, despite the best efforts of paramedics, he was declared dead at the scene.

Now the pleasure park has spoken about the tragedy and offered its condolences to the boy's family. It wrote today: "Very sad news yesterday all of our team did their best to assist the emergency services but unfortunately the boy suffered a medical emergency and couldn’t be saved. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this very sad time. Park remains open this morning 11m as usual."

No further details about the boy - except his age - have been disclosed by police who have appealed to the public for information over the incident. South Wales Police asked anyone who was in the area when the tragedy happened should come forward with an investigation now underway
Multiple police cars and ambulances attended while a helicopter from Wales Air Ambulance was filmed landing at the scene yesterday evening. A force spokesperson said: "We were called just before 5pm this evening, Friday May 23, with a report of a 16-year-old teenage boy suffering a medical episode in Barry Island Pleasure Park.
"Despite efforts of emergency services, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances of the death.
"Anyone who was in Barry Island Pleasure Park around the time of the incident that may have information that could assist our investigation is asked to contact us by one of the following means quoting 2500163611."
Hundreds of tributes have already been left online. One said: "Thinking of you all, life is so cruel. RIP young man," and another wrote: "When you’re a mum to a child of the same age knowing there lives are just about to start with there GCSE’s coming to an end a whole life in front of them! My heartfelt condolences to this boys family! May he rest in peace sending love to all."
There were many similar messages with one person commenting: "South Wales Police and all the emergency services thank U for trying to save this young boys life feel for this family," while a further message said: "So sad thinking of the family."
