England Enforce Follow-On Against Zimbabwe, Lead by 270 Runs After Day 2 at Trent Bridge:

Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Zimbabwe had a tough challenge trying to take on England, especially after losing the first day. With England securing the follow on and having a 270 lead after the 2nd day, it became seemingly impossible for Zimbabwe to win. Despite Brian Bennett’s incredible performance of scoring a whopping 139 as the first Zimbabwean to record a Test century was taken out for 265; still wasn’t enough to keep up with England’s total of 565 runs in 6 overs.

England started the day with a total of 565 runs and ended it at 632, providing them with an additional 67 runs and having an extra 10 overs till the declaration. When South African faced off against west indies, South African’s Ollie Pope gave remarkable performance scoring 58 and hitting three sixes on top of that.

England didn’t bother to waste more time and decided to declare at Brook bouncing off the stumps.

Zimbabwe’s tournament continues and this time they have high hopes for Brian Bennett. Things started off well for Zimbabwe as Bennett went against Cook and Bashir, this paired him with Craig Ervine but his edge to the slip put an abrupt stop to Zimbabwe’s chance of making a comeback

First coming onto the scene as a bowler, Bennett has slowly but surely made his way into the spotlight. He managed to reach his second test hundred during the 3rd test as he strangled his way through being dropped two times for a new career high of 139 runs. Sean Williams managed to earn a bit more than half with his contribution of 51 before he was claimed by Bashir. Shooting down the last two batsmen quickly, Gus Atkinson earned himself two wickets whilst Richard Ngrava chose not to bat as he was injured.

Zimbabwe Struggle Again in Second Innings

Bennett and Ervine’s exit was followed by a dire losing streak for Zimbabwe, later on also followed under the shadow of a follow-on. Sean Williams played aggressivley which added four boundaries to his total and left him with 22 runs at the day’s close. Zimbabwe ended up with 30 for two stumps with two runs prior to being in a jam while dampened illuminants old cylinder.
