
New Delhi: Both jaggery and sugar are present in our homes. Jaggery is very much liked since ancient times. Jaggery is used in many foods. This is the reason that 70% of the world’s jaggery is produced in India. Many benefits of jaggery have also been mentioned in Ayurveda. It is also used in medicines. Sugar like jaggery is also made from sugarcane juice, but both have different effects on health. Sugar is considered more dangerous, while jaggery is very beneficial. In such a situation, the question arises that when both are made of the same thing, then how is there such a difference between the two.
Chinese harmful, jaggery beneficial
Even though sugar and jaggery are made from sugarcane, both are processed in different ways. Therefore, different elements are found in jaggery from sugar. Jaggery contains natural sugar, which makes it more powerful. It contains more vitamins and minerals, while sucrose is less than sugar. According to experts, up to 70 per cent of sucrose is found in good quality jaggery, while white sugar contains up to 99.7 per cent. White sugar contains neither protein, neither fat, minerals nor vitamins are found, while jaggery contains sucrose, fructose and glucose, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, protein, potassium, magnesium, calcium, manganese, phosphorus and iron. Therefore, it is more beneficial.
Is eating too much jaggery harmful
Many research has proved that eating jaggery is more beneficial for health than sugar, but it is better to eat jaggery in balanced quantity. Eating 100 grams of jaggery at a time provides 340 calorie energy. Eating more jaggery can cause the same harm as eating sugar.
