Resurgence of COVID-19 Fears in Maharashtra
In Maharashtra, worries regarding the coronavirus have intensified after a tragic incident involving a 21-year-old man in Thane, located near Mumbai. This young individual succumbed to the virus just a day after being diagnosed with COVID-19. He was admitted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in critical condition, suffering from severe complications due to type-1 diabetes and elevated blood sugar levels. Upon testing positive for COVID-19, he unfortunately passed away the next morning.
Recent data from the Health Department indicates that Mumbai reported 35 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, contributing to a total of 45 cases across Maharashtra. Currently, there are 210 active cases in the state, with 6,819 individuals tested since January. While the majority of those infected have recovered, three fatalities have been recorded.
In Thane city alone, 19 new COVID-19 cases have emerged over the past three days. Among these, 17 individuals are under home quarantine, while one has been hospitalized in a private facility. Although municipal authorities are on high alert, the state health department has yet to convene a high-level review meeting.
Sandeep Malvi from the Thane Municipal Corporation noted that the young man exhibited severe symptoms upon his arrival at the hospital. His condition deteriorated due to the coronavirus infection, leading to his untimely death.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers of underestimating the coronavirus. It is crucial for both health officials and the public to remain vigilant.
