Later Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan were reportedly offered the film but they later rejected it. According to reports Rishi Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty were initially approached for the role of Sunil which was portrayed by Sunny Deol in the film. However they all declined it due to unknown reasons. Moreover Juhi Chawla who starred as a lead actress in Darr portrayed the role of Kiran. Before her final casting several actresses were approached including Sridevi Madhuri Dixit Divya Bharti and Aishwarya Rai but certainly it didnt work out and Juhi ultimately played the part. Shah Rukh Khans Darr was the years highest-grossing Indian film earning Rs 21.3 crore at the box office. Moreover it also earned the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment at the 41st National Awards.
