Actor Yash has officially begun filming for the much-anticipated epic ‘Ramayana’, stepping into the role of Ravana. The project is set to redefine the scale of action in Indian cinema, with Hollywood stunt legend Guy Norris, known for his work in ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’, ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, and ‘The Suicide Squad’, joining the team to choreograph high-octane action sequences.

Norris is currently in India, working closely with Yash to design complex stunt set pieces tailored specifically for the grandeur of this mythological retelling. The two-part saga is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, best known for helming Dangal, India’s highest-grossing film to date.

About Ramayana

Ramayana follows Prince Rama's journey during his 14-year exile, leading up to the dramatic confrontation with demon king Ravana, who abducts Rama’s wife, Sita. The adaptation promises a visual spectacle rooted in Indian mythology, backed by powerful performances and world-class technical execution.

Yash’s production banner, Monster Mind Creations, has partnered with Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios for the project. Malhotra, the global CEO of acclaimed VFX studio DNEG, brings significant experience to the table—DNEG has worked on seven Academy Award-winning films including ‘Dune: Part One’ and ‘Tenet’.

The first behind-the-scenes images from the set show Yash in top form, physically preparing for the demanding role of Ravana. He is committed to an extensive 60–70 day shoot for Part 1, which is slated for a Diwali 2026 release. Part 2 is expected to hit theatres during Diwali 2027.

Yash, who rose to pan-India stardom through the ‘K.G.F. franchise’, whose second installment is among the top five highest-grossing Indian films, now leads an ensemble cast that includes Ranbir Kapoor.

Ramayana has seen multiple screen adaptations over the years, from Ramanand Sagar’s iconic 1987 TV series to 1993’s ‘Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama’, and more recently, the 2023 film ‘Adipurush’.
