Turkish national athlete Adem Asil clinched the gold medal in the men’s individual all-around final at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Germany’s Leipzig on Thursday, marking his second career title in the event.
The final, held during the evening session on the fourth day of the championships, took place at the trade fair center in Leipzig. Asil earned a total of 82.398 points across six apparatuses: floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar.
“I’m happy to have won my second gold medal in the individual all-around,” Asil said after his victory.

Reflecting on his earlier triumph at the 2023 European Championships in Antalya, he added, “I want to thank everyone who supported me. Special thanks to our ministry, our president, my club Savkar Gymnastics Club, my teammates, my family, and my nation.”
Asil is set to compete in the individual event finals for rings and horizontal bar later in the competition. “It was a very good start. I hope it continues like this. I fought hard today. If I can deliver strong routines again, I believe we will achieve good results,” he said.
Officials hail historic win
Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus extended his congratulations on social media, writing, “I congratulate our son Adem Asil, who raised our glorious flag by winning the gold medal at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships. May your success continue.”“
Suat Celen, president of the Turkish Gymnastics Federation, also praised Asil’s performance. “I send my regards to everyone whose heart beats with us. More is coming tomorrow — other gold medals are on the way. We will proudly bring them to our country with Adem on rings and then with Ferhat on parallel bars,” he said, thanking Youth and Sports Minister Osman Askin Bak, ministry officials, and all supporters for their contributions.
Men’s Artistic Gymnastics National Team head coach Yilmaz Goktekin highlighted the collective effort behind the achievement. “There is a very strong team behind this success. I offer my heartfelt and endless thanks to all team members and everyone. More to come tomorrow,” he said.
