If you need to update your Aadhaar details, then this is good for you. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is allowing citizens to update their Aadhaar details online for free, but this facility will be available only till June 14, 2025. This initiative, first started last year, has eliminated the regular update fee of Rs 50 and also relieved you of the hassle of visiting a physical enrollment center. However, now you have only a few days left to update your Aadhaar Card for free, so you should do it as soon as possible.

Why is an Aadhaar update necessary?

According to UIDAI's Aadhaar Enrollment and Update Regulations, 2016, every Aadhaar holder is required to update their Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) once every 10 years. Keeping your information updated helps you avoid problems in applying for government benefits, opening a bank account, or completing the KYC process. Let us know what updates you can do online.

What updates can be done online on the Aadhaar Card?

Let us tell you that this free update facility is available only for selected demographic details. You can change them online:

Name
Date of Birth (within some limits)

Address
Gender
Language preferences

However, to get biometric updates such as fingerprint, iris scan, or photo corrected, you will have to go to the Aadhaar enrollment center.

Aadhaar Card Update: Step-By-Step Process

For this, first go to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.

After this, log in with your Aadhaar number and OTP.

From here, now click on 'Document Update' on the top right.

Upload valid PoI and PoA documents.

You can upload it as a JPEG/PNG/PDF file whose maximum size can be up to 2MB.

Submit after reviewing.

Now you will get a Service Request Number (SRN) to track its status.
