Subsequent to relaunching the Jurrasic World franchise at Universal, filmmaker Colin Trevorrow is next venturing onto a conspiracy thriller project based on Area 51. The location is infamous for claims of alien and UFO sightings, and being cordoned off for public.

Trevorrow, through his Metronome banner, will also produce the film with Maximum Effort’s Ryan Reynolds, George Dewey, Johnny Pariseau and Ashley Fox at Paramount Pictures.

Set against the backdrop of the 80s, the film, written by Thomas and William Wheeler, follows a Las Vegas TV journalist who first broke to the world the story of Area 51.

After gaining prominence with the sci-fi comedy Safety Not Guaranteed (2012), he landed his Jurassic Park job with Jurassic World (2015), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Jurassic World Dominion (2022). He effectively revived the franchise with a combined box office collection of almost $4 billion.
