A comedian has doubled down on his vile joke with a fresh jibe over . Andrew Lawrence posted the line on X this afternoon after 79 people were injured, including children, when a car drove through the crowd at Liverpool FC's Premier League title parade on Monday. He wrote: "Let's be honest, a lot of scousers threw themselves in front of that because it was the only way to cling on to their disability benefits." It has sparked outrage amongst some.
@ShankyLFC replied: "Considering how bad your 'comedy' is you aren't too far away from having to rely on disability benefits yourself to pay your rent. Karma will come one day." Another account said: "Too soon bro." A different person wrote: "[You're] a f****** moron have more respect." One account tagged Merseyside Police, adding: "This isn't a joke. This is abuse about a collective group of people."
@RyanHMoore91 wrote: "Aren't you supposed to be a comedian? Non of this is funny."
Others, however, were supportive.
One person commented: "This is exactly what comedians need to do when the baying mob comes for them. No one gets to decide what's a joke and what's not."
A different account wrote: "Zero f**** given! How can anyone hate that?"
Another person said: "Keep these jokes coming... it's got the left rattled as they are desperately hoping to cancel you, not realising they are just giving you free promotion as a comedian."
@Clementine22119 wrote: "I love how you're leaning in to it! I'll always support you because you're a brilliant comic. (The event is horrible and yes, it's pretty soon. But this is still freaking funny.)"

It comes after Mr Lawrence posted on Tuesday: "To be fair, if I was in Liverpool, I'd drive through crowds of people to get the f*** out of there as well."
A planned show by Lawrence was scrapped earlier this week amid a backlash.
In 2021, he had several gigs from his upcoming tour cancelled with some venues refusing to host him after several "racist" remarks were posted from his social media account.
Ahead of his stage comeback, he stated that "offence is taken not given".
Paul Doyle, 53, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court this afternoon charged with seven offences following the incident on Water Street.
He is accused of two counts of wounding with intent, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, two counts of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of dangerous driving.
The charges relate to six victims, including two children aged 11 and 17.
