However, it is not clear which Android versions or non-Pixel phones were affected, but this problem has been seen most in Pixel phones.

User complaints and temporary solution
For the past few weeks, users have been complaining about excessive battery consumption due to Instagram. Some installed the older version of the app, while others started using Instagram Lite, which helped the battery last better. This confirmed that the problem was related to the main app. Some users also reported that the phone was getting excessively hot, which further increased the concern. Seeing the increasing complaints, Google released an advisory titled "Battery drain on Android devices". It not only confirmed the problem but also said that the new update of Instagram will fix this bug.
