
From 1 June 2025, whatsapp will stop working on many old Android and iOS devices. In such a situation, if you are also using an old smartphone, then immediately make your WhatsApp backup, so that necessary chats, photos and documents can be safe.
Which devices will be closed in whatsapp
According to reports, WhatsApp will no longer support iPhones running on the iOS 15 or below and and Android 5.0 or older will not support smartphones. This includes many popular models:

- iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone 6s
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone SE (1st Gen)

Back up to keep data safe
If you do not make backup before Whatsapp is closed, your chats, media files and documents can be lost. So follow the steps mentioned below and make backup immediately.
Android users make such chat backup:
- Open Whatsapp
- Tap on three dots (⋮) on top right
- Go to Settings> Chats
- Tap on chat backup
- Save backup in Google Drive
- This is how iPhone users make backup:
- Open Whatsapp
- Go to Settings> Chats> Chat Backup
- Tap on “Back Up Now”
