Devastating Incident in Bryansk Region
Moscow: A tragic railway bridge collapse in Russia's Bryansk region, bordering Ukraine, has resulted in the deaths of at least seven individuals, with 30 more requiring hospitalization.
Officials have attributed the disaster to "illegal interference," which occurred early on Sunday morning.
According to Russian Railways, the train's locomotive and several carriages derailed following the bridge's structural failure, linked to unauthorized actions affecting transport operations.
Bryansk's governor, Alexander Bogomaz, reported that among the hospitalized, two children were included, with one in critical condition.
The locomotive driver was confirmed dead, as per reports from state news agencies citing medical personnel.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations announced via Telegram that approximately 180 rescue workers were dispatched to the site, focusing on finding and aiding any remaining victims.
Preliminary reports from the Baza Telegram channel, known for its law enforcement insights, suggested that the bridge might have been detonated, although no evidence was provided to substantiate this claim.
The Bryansk region has been subjected to frequent cross-border attacks, drone strikes, and covert operations from Ukraine since the conflict began.
The train was traveling from Klimovo to Moscow when it struck the collapsed bridge near a federal highway in the Vygonichskyi district, located about 100 kilometers (62 miles) from the Ukrainian border.
In light of the ongoing conflict, former US President Donald Trump has urged both Moscow and Kyiv to work together towards a peace agreement.
Russia has also suggested a second round of direct talks with Ukrainian representatives, scheduled for next week in Istanbul, although Ukraine has yet to confirm its attendance, stating it needs to assess Russia's proposals first.
