
Awareness campaign on Tobacco Prohibition Day in Gurugram
(Gurugram News) Gurugram. On the occasion of World Tobacco Prohibition Day, the District Legal Services Authority organized a public awareness campaign on Sunday. Chief Judicial Magistrate Ramesh Chandra said that this year’s theme is to protect the youth from the influence of the tobacco industry, which shows how important it is to protect the younger generation from the propagation and addiction of tobacco. He said that tobacco kills more than 8 million people every year and it has become the main cause of heart disease, cancer and respiratory diseases.
On the occasion, awareness camps were organized in the District Court premises, where the general public, especially the youth were motivated to stay away from various forms of tobacco such as cigarettes, bidis, gutkha, khaini and e-cigarettes. Ramesh Chandra said that the tobacco industry is especially targeting the youth, so that the society should be cautious. He said that a healthy and tobacco-free lifestyle is the foundation of a better future.
He appealed to governments and social organizations to implement rigorous policies, promote public education campaigns and strengthen de -addiction programs. He also said that effective fight against tobacco is possible only with public participation. Everyone should take concrete steps to protect future generations.
