Bengaluru: Over 100 visitors explore Vidhana Soudha in guided heritage walk

Bengaluru: As part of the newly launched ‘Vidhana Soudha Guided Tour’, a total of 102 visitors toured the iconic Vidhana Soudha building on Sunday, getting a rare glimpse into the architectural and historical highlights of Karnataka’s seat of power.

The walk, which began last week, had multiple time slots for participants. The first group of 30 people had registered for the 9 am slot and arrived as early as 8:30 am at Gate No. 3 of Vidhana Soudha. Entry was allowed after Aadhaar verification and other necessary formalities.

The 1.5-km walk was led by trained tourist guides, who explained the history, design, and significance of the Vidhana Soudha’s structure. Key attractions included the a stone pillar laid by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the assembly and council halls, the grand entrance, the dining hall, and the famous sandalwood model of the building.

Visitors also viewed statues of important leaders and figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, Dr B R Ambedkar, Kengal Hanumanthaiah (the builder of Vidhana Soudha), Basaveshwara, Kempegowda, and Goddess Bhuvaneshwari.

The day’s schedule included four guided slots — two in Kannada (9 am and 10 am) and two in English (10 am and 12 noon). A total of 120 people had booked in advance, including 67 men and 53 women, though 102 finally participated in the walk.
