
With the IPL 2025 finals set to be played between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, both sides are aiming to clinch their maiden IPL title. Under new captaincy and a set of players, both sides have performed well in the ongoing season.
Over the course of 17 seasons, several captains have had the honour of lifting the Indian Premier League trophy. Some of the captains have multiple titles, while some have lifted the trophies on their first occasion.

The first two seasons of the Indian Premier League were all about Australian captains. Shane Warne and Adam Gilchrist lifted their respective franchises to the title glory. CSK led by MS Dhoni have five trophies while Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians also has lifted trophies five time.
Kolkata Knight Riders has also broke won two cups under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir in 2012 & 2014 and one title under Shreyas Iyer in 2024 season.
Speaking of the other captains, David Warner (SRH) and Hardik Pandya (GT) have also lead the teams to IPL victories. The second last IPL edition was won by MS Dhoni-led CSK and the most recent title in IPL 2024 was claimed by Shreyas Iyer’s KKR.
