New Delhi: On June 3 the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final will be played at Ahmedabads Narendra Modi Stadium between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Punjab qualified for the final by winning Qualifier 2 against Mumbai Indians as Shreyas Iyers outstanding knock of 87 runs in only 41 deliveries played a big role. The final gives Iyer a chance to reach a new record. Shreyas Iyer is now second among Indian players for the number of sixes in a single IPL season with his 39. If he hits four more sixes in the final match it would trump Abhishek Sharmas record of 42 sixes made in 2024 for Sunrisers Hyderabad. If Shreyas Iyer leads the Punjab Kings to victory in IPL 2025 he will be the first captain to win the IPL with two different franchises. Shreyas Iyer described his training regimen leading up to his 87-run performance against the Mumbai Indians. Despite his strong showing he expressed a desire for continued improvement. “When I say that I am in the zone it starts from before the match from the warm-up and how you plan yourself and approach the game. Once I was completely locked in I knew how I was going to rally my players and they did a phenomenal job in restricting them to 203. From there I had a certain plan on how I was going to play on that red-soil surface. We got a beautiful start from our openers and then Josh came in at No. 3 so I thought I would get a little bit of time. Once my eyes were set it was all about the flow and backing my instincts. Happy but not content” Iyer said after the match.
