New Delhi: The final match of IPL 2025 to be held on Tuesday at the worlds largest cricket stadium Narendra Modi Stadium may be affected due to rain. While on the one hand the fans are excited to watch the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) for the first title on the other hand the weather departments warning has raised concerns. Rain forecast in Ahmedabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted light to moderate rain on Tuesday. On Monday the temperature in Ahmedabad had reached 39°C but now there are signs of change in the weather. It is being said that the chances of rain are 50 to 75 per cent. It may rain in the evening and night as well. If this happens the final match of the IPL may be affected. Even currently it is raining in Ahmedabad. Talking about the match it is more likely that rain can play spoilsport in the final. Drainage of Narendra Modi Stadium is very good: According to IPL rules if it rains in the playoffs the overs will not be cut for two hours. Apart from this the sub-soil drainage system of Narendra Modi Stadium is capable of draining out the water within 30 minutes of the rain stopping. This ensures that the ground does not remain wet and the risk of match cancellation is eliminated. It works about 36 times faster than traditional drainage methods. In the qualifier between Punjab and Mumbai it did not take much time for the match to start after the rain stopped. Reserve day for the final too: In IPL there is a reserve day only for the final match. That is if not a single ball is bowled today due to rain then the final match will be held tomorrow i.e. on 4th June. The final of the 2023 season was held in the same way. Even then the final had to be held on the reserve day due to rain at the Narendra Modi Stadium. However if the reserve day is also washed away by rain then the team at the top of the table (Punjab Kings) will be declared the winner.
