Notepad has become Microsoft’s favourite text tool since WordPad was shut down and with new AI features and Copilot, this is a new app.
AI support, text subhead, add links are coming to Notepad for Windows 11 users
Microsoft has shut down WordPad with the Windows 11 update earlier and the company has shifted all its focus on making Notepad more smarter, AI-friendly and support more features. The basic text formatting app offers a lot for the Windows 11 users and the latest addition will make it even more useful to more people.
The new Windows 11 beta version shows us Notepad letting you add links, and change the format of text, all of these features that were never available on the popular Windows text app.
Notepad Tools For Windows 11: What’s New
The new Windows 11 update brings the ability to create subheads, add bullet points for your notes and even change the text style from bold to italic. Microsoft says the support for these text formatting options can be disabled from the settings in case you want to use Notepad in its previous rich-text avatar.
AI has become another big update for the app on Windows 11 PCs. Having AI on board means the tool now becomes more enhanced and reliable for tasks like rewriting and helping you correct the sentences.
The feature is available to those signed up for the Windows 11 Insider which is Microsoft’s own beta program and they need to sign into their Microsoft/Outlook account to get the benefits of the AI features.
The AI Upgrade
Talking about the tool itself, Windows 11 users can select the sentence or paragraph to rewrite and then right-click to see the AI tweak feature. The AI tech will then offer multiple versions, and you can select one of them for your purpose.
The AI rewrite tool is limited to select regions like the US, Canada, UK, Italy and Germany among others. Windows 11 users in India will probably have to wait a little longer to try out this new AI feature if they use a lot of Notepad for their daily tasks.
You can also create tabs on Notepad and get the content auto-saved on the system so that you don’t lose important details because of any sudden crash or misbehavior from the PC. You can also trigger Copilot to help you with summarising text, change the tone or format of the content as well as use it in dark mode.
