This match, set in the largest cricket stadium in the world, promises to be more exciting than the earlier Qualifier 1, which was pretty one-sided in favor of Bengaluru.
Yograj believes getting Virat Kohli out early is crucial for Punjab’s chances. If they don’t dismiss Virat, they could be in trouble. He can chase down 250 or even 300. If he stays in for the first 10 overs, it’ll be hard for Punjab. I really think they can pull this off, he shared with ANI.
Virat has been in fantastic form and has scored 614 runs this season, making him the fifth-highest run-scorer at an impressive average of 55.82 and a strike rate of 146.53. He’s been a key part of Bengaluru making it to the finals for the first time in nine years.
Yograj also praised Punjab’s captain, Shreyas Iyer, who he believes has the ability to turn the game around like Virat can. Shreyas has been hitting big, with 39 sixes this season, showcasing both timing and power. He’s second only to Nicholas Pooran from Lucknow Super Giants in that department.
Punjab has a strong captain and he’s a great player. The match really comes down to the battle between Shreyas and Virat. If RCB has Virat, Punjab has Shreyas. I think Punjab is set to win; if Virat can pull off game-winning performances, Shreyas has that talent too, Yograj mentioned.
Shreyas has been solid in his two previous IPL finals, remaining not out with scores of 65 for Delhi Capitals against Mumbai in 2020 and 6 against Sunrisers Hyderabad last year.
