Amritsar: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Tuesday made a controversial remark on Operation Sindoor. Mann during a media briefing said, "Will you apply Sindoor in Modi's name?" He further said, "Is this one nation, one husband scheme?" The CM has taunted the BJP on the decision of sending Sindoor to every house- a claim refuted by the Press Information Bureau's fact checking unit.
During the press conference, the media asked that BJP leaders are asking for votes in the name of sindoor.Responding to this, he said "This is very sad. sindoor is being mocked. Didn't you see? Now they are saying that they will send sindoor to every house." He asked the media person, "When sindoor comes to your house, you will say take it, apply sindoor in the name of Modi. Is this the One Nation One Husband Scheme?" he said before leaving the press conference.
BJP Responds
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari promptly responded to Maan's statement. Bhandari took to X and said, "Shameful! Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann ridicules #OperationSindoor! Once again, the opposition shows its true face — Disrespecting our armed forces and belittling a successful military operation. If this isn’t anti-India in spirit, then what is?"
Earlier on Sunday, AAP MP Sanjay Singh in a video message posted on X said, "In Indian culture, women apply sindoor as a symbol of their husband's long life, respect and well-being. It reflects pride, dignity, and deep emotional meaning. But now, after pushing schemes like 'One Nation, One Election' and 'One Nation, One Leader', the Prime Minister appears to have launched 'One Nation, One Husband'," Singh said.
Similarly, the Kerala Congress unit shared a poster of PM Modi with the caption 'One Nation, One Husband.'
