Chelsea FC are seriously tempted to sign France U21 centre-back Ismaël Doukouré (21), according to The team. Given that the France U21 international plays for BlueCo-owned Ligue 1 club Racing Club de Strasbourg, it should be a relatively straightforward case. The outlet reports that BlueCo has submitted Doukouré a contractual proposal which includes a transfer to Chelsea FC. Doukouré has been one of the best-performing Alsatians under the tutelage of Lian Rosenior.
Last summer, BlueCo vetoed Doukouré’s transfer to Wolfsburg, given that the Chelsea owners saw the potential of the Valenciennes youth product. A year on and after a full Ligue 1 season under his belt, Doukouré’s stock has risen again with Strasbourg defying the odds and clinching seventh place. The team adds that Doukouré is one of the few Strasbourg players – like Emanuel Emegha and Mamadou Sarr – for whom BlueCo sees a future in Chelsea.
But unlike Emegha and Sarr, Doukouré is set to enter his final contract year at La Meinau, which prompted BlueCo to act now and try to rebuff potential suitors given Doukouré’s contractual situation. Premier League and Bundesliga clubs have already shown an interest in signing the France U21 international, who has earned a call-up to play the Euros with Gérard Baticle’s Blueberries.
