New Delhi: Apple recently teased what fans can expect at its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 9–13 at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. As rumours about updates spread, Apple has updated the event’s description on its developer page from “on the horizon” to “sleek peek”. This small change is viewed as a hint at the major design changes coming to iOS, iPadOS and macOS.
A rainbow graphic with glassy effects on the Apple homepage suggests the company is working to unify and enhance the look of its devices. Rumours suggest that Apple will update its operating systems to better match the visuals of the Vision Pro’s visionOS.
Revamped visual experience
According to insiders, the upcoming iOS update is expected to introduce a new floating tab feature, better glass effects and new icons. This will make their designs similar to visionOS so users can more easily find their way around and use the system’s features. The changes are expected to help both professional and new users get more out of Apple’s software.
Possible OS naming shift
A further change could involve using year-based names instead of iteration-based ones. Supposedly, iOS 19 will turn into iOS 26, iPadOS 19 into iPadOS 26 and macOS 16 into macOS 26 and the set could be called Tahoe after Lake Tahoe in California. The keynote on June 9 at 9 am PT will reveal both new names and redesigned icons.
