At the Miss World 2024 beauty pageant, held on 9th March in Mumbai, Nita Ambani flaunted her fashion sense. Nita Ambani turned heads in a Banarasi handloom saree, but more for her priceless piece of jewellery that she wore – a Kalgi from the Mughal period which belonged to the emperor Shah Jahan. Styled uniquely as a Bajubandh (armlet), the antique ornament reportedly carries a valuation of over Rs. 200 crores. Her appearance was the perfect blend of regal charm and philanthropic recognition.
Kalgi Turned Into Bajubandh — A Royal Flair
Nita Ambani's accessory choice for the evening was unlike anything seen before. She carried a Kalgi, which is a turban ornament belonging to Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, and worn as a Bajubandh. The historic jewel is made of gold and studded with diamonds, rubies, and spinels, set in the classic Pachhikakaam style. The jewel is 13.7 cm high and 19.8 cm wide.

Stunning Handloom Banarasi Saree Look:
She wore a Banarasi saree with jangla patterns and gold zari detailing, paired with meenakari floral motifs that added a touch of elegance to her traditional look. Her soft curls, dewy make-up with glittering eyeshadow, and glossy lips added poise, and statement earrings and kadas finished her look.
Honoured With A Prestigious Award:
The event also witnessed Nita Ambani being awarded the 'Beauty with Purpose Humanitarian Award' for her extensive philanthropic work through the Reliance Foundation. The award is given to those who drive change and uplift communities — a title that suits her numerous causes in health, education, and rural revitalisation.
Social Media Reacts:
Fans and fashion enthusiasts overwhelmed social media in amazement at her royal selection. The creative adaptation of a kalgi from history to something new as an accessory generated debate on the fusion of heritage and fashion.
Her Previous Priceless Pieces:
Nita Ambani is known for her exceptional taste when it comes to traditional jewellery. For Isha Ambani's wedding in 2018, she sported a humongous diamond nath with a 1 lb diamond. In 2015, she was spotted wearing a saree costing Rs. 40 lakhs made of actual gold threadwork, embedded with emeralds, rubies, and pukhraj gemstones.
