Virat Kohli and other players were welcomed by RCB fans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Punjab Kings by 6 runs in the final on June 3. The players returned to Bengaluru to celebrate the success with their ardent supporters. After their felicitation by Karnataka state government, the winning squad was taken to their home ground. Kohli dedicated the IPL trophy to RCB fans and thanked them for their unwavering commitment and support.
“I have never seen a fanbase like you guys in any part of the world. You deserve this trophy,” Virat Kohli said.
He also spoke about captain Rajat Patidar. “During our unboxing event before the start of the Indian Premier League, I urged you guys to support our new captain Rajat Patidar. I told you that he would lead us for a long time. Let’s welcome our captain Rajat Patidar,” Virat added.a
Patidar also thanked the supporters for backing the team throughout the season.
Bengaluru finished second in the standings with 19 points from 14 matches. They thumped Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1 to reach the final. On the other hand, PBKS secured a win over Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 to book another meeting with the Challengers in the summit clash.
When Patidar’s team posted 190/9, the Kings were called favourites. However, the bowlers restricted Punjab to 184/7.
