Jio Hotstar had set a target of Rs 4500 crore in ad revenue this season as they were supported by 32 major sponsorship deals and 100 million paid streaming customers. This joint venture of Reliance and Disney became a game-changer in digital streaming as compared with last season. In the first over of the final 92 million people streamed the match. This season also gave huge profits to the BCCI as top franchises reached a valuation of $2 billion. Mumbai Indians one of the most successful teams in IPL history lost to Chennai Super Kings. They chose to bat first and scored 155 runs but lost 9 wickets. CSK chased down the target easily and scored 158 runs with 5 balls in spare.
