The Karnataka government had earlier promised the family of each person killed in the stampede outside the Chinnaswamy stadium Rs 10 lakh in compensation for the unfortunate event.

During a news conference, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the government will also provide the wounded free medical care.

“During the celebration of the triumph, a significant tragedy took place. It took place close to Chinnaswamy Stadium. The government has declared that the dead would get Rs 10 lakh in compensation. The wounded will get free medical care from the government,” the CM said.

CM Siddaramaiah expressed his profound sadness over the event, saying, “The rush claimed 11 lives and wounded 33. It was not necessary for this tragedy to occur. The administration is very saddened by this tragedy.
The chief minister of Karnataka also claimed to have launched a magisterial investigation into the issue.

“This event is not something I want to justify. This will not be a political issue for our administration. I’ve granted 15 days and authorized a magisterial investigation. Even the stadium’s gates were broken. A stampede was in progress. Such a large throng was not anticipated. Even though the stadium can only hold 35,000 people, two to three lakh people showed up, according to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
