Manchester City are in pole position in the race to sign Olympique Lyonnais’ Rayan Cherki (21), who was questioned about his future on Thursday evening.
Cherki said at the end of the Ligue 1 season that he expected to leave his formative club, and his performances over the course of the campaign have drawn significant interest. Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund maintain a strong interest in the playmaker, however, it is Manchester City who have lodged a bid for the player. The team understands that the bid is worth €22.5m. For now, OL have no intention of accepting that offer.
However, Manchester City seem determined to get their man and will persist in discussions with the French side. On Thursday, Cherki made his first appearance for The Blues, coming off the bench and netting a goal and an assist in a 5-4 defeat to Spain. Post-match, he spoke to Telefoot and evoked his future. “My future? Yes, it is taking shape. But you know my response, everyone knows it. But there is still a match to play (against Germany on Sunday). Now, we have to make the most of it and give everything,” he said.
